The
English Study Program, Language and Culture Faculty, State University of
Surabaya has officially announced the inaugural English Week Competition,
a national event designed for senior high school and university students across
Indonesia. Scheduled from 1 August – 7 November 2024 with some various
activities , this competition aims to enhance English language proficiency and
foster a passion for communication among youth.
The
English Week Competition will feature a range of activities, including speech
contest, debate, storytelling competition, essay, and other intresting contests.
Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity
in both individual and group formats, promoting teamwork and collaboration
among students.
This
initiative seeks to not only improve English language skills but also to
provide students with a platform to connect with peers and learn from one
another. It is an excellent opportunity for young people to engage with the
language in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Registration
for the competition will open on August 1, 2024, and interested students can sign
up online through the website in the picture below. Early registration is
encouraged, as slots are limited. Winners of the competition will receive
exciting prizes, including scholarships, certificates, and opportunities for
further training in English language skills.
“Judging
from the perspective of the competition participants, this English Week can be
a forum for those who want to hone their English language skills in every field
of competition.” Said Shelina Erness as a
deputy chairman of the English week committee this year “This can also be a meaningful experience for
them. Apart from that, for the finalists, of course the benefits they get will
be wider too, apart from other rewards, they will get a national level
competition certificate which can be attached to the scholarship requirements
or for those who will register for higher education in the coming year. With
the hope that the experience and other things gained will be very useful for
sure.”
