On January 20-21, 2025, the English Literature Study Program of Universitas Negeri Surabaya successfully hosted a pivotal event focusing on curriculum transformation and the development of Rencana Pembelajaran Semester (RPS). This initiative aimed to align the program’s academic framework with evolving educational standards and the demands of the global workforce. Faculty members, education experts, and invited stakeholders gathered to discuss and refine strategies for creating a curriculum that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and cultural literacy among students.
The two-day event featured intensive workshops, collaborative discussions, and presentations by esteemed academics. Participants worked collectively to identify the key competencies required for English Literature graduates and translate these into measurable learning outcomes. The updated curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, digital literacy, and practical skills while maintaining a strong foundation in literary analysis and critical theory. Special attention was given to integrating contemporary issues, such as diversity, sustainability, and technological advancements, into course content.
By the end of the event, the study program had achieved significant milestones, including the finalization of new Lesson Plan documents and actionable plans for implementation. These updates are set to enhance student engagement, ensure relevance to real-world contexts, and elevate the overall academic quality of the program. The successful collaboration demonstrated Universitas Negeri Surabaya’s commitment to academic excellence and its proactive response to the challenges and opportunities in higher education.
