Building Strong Connections: Parents Meeting Welcomes 2025 Undergraduate Students
The Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, warmly welcomed parents and guardians in the Parents Meeting (Temu Wali) for 2025 undergraduate students, held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 via Zoom. The event opened with inspiring remarks from the Vice Rector I, who emphasized the crucial role of parents in shaping students’ academic journeys. He encouraged active collaboration between families and the university to build a supportive environment that nurtures both academic achievement and personal growth.
In the following session, Dean, Syafi’ul Anam, Ph.D., and Vice Dean I, Didik Nurhadi, Ph.D., shared the faculty’s vision for the upcoming academic year. They highlighted key priorities such as curriculum innovation, international exposure, and entrepreneurship-based learning opportunities. Parents were invited to join hands with the faculty in supporting students to explore their potential, embrace challenges, and prepare for a rapidly changing global landscape. Their messages created a sense of shared purpose and enthusiasm for the year ahead.
The presentations from PPTI (Information Technology and Data Center) and the Academic Division offered practical insights into the university’s digital academic systems and administrative services. Parents were introduced to platforms they can use to stay informed about their children’s academic progress, from course registration to internship opportunities. This session helped bridge the gap between parents and campus life, empowering families to play a more active role in their children’s education.
Finally, study program coordinators, including the English Literature Study Program, delivered program-specific presentations. English Literature introduced its rich academic mission, distinctive graduate profiles—including future editors, writers, translators, and communication experts—and core courses in linguistics, literature, and cultural studies. Key academic features such as the 20-credit Magang Berdampak internship and the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) were also explained. The session concluded with reminders for parents to maintain open communication, monitor behavioral changes, and provide emotional and financial support—essential elements for a successful university journey.
