English Literature Students of UNESA Visit the U.S. Consulate General for “Anjangsana”

Surabaya, 29 November 2024 – Students from the English Literature program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) had a meaningful visit to the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya for an intimate session titled “Anjangsana.” The event featured discussions on the history and significance of Thanksgiving, highlighting its roots in gratitude and community. Students explored how the holiday’s themes of togetherness and giving resonate with similar values in Indonesian traditions, such as pengajian, which also emphasizes communal gatherings and mutual support.
The session also provided insights into opportunities for Indonesian students to study in the United States. Representatives from EducationUSA outlined pathways to scholarships, including the Fulbright program, and emphasized the benefits of studying in a diverse and globally connected academic environment. Students were encouraged to pursue higher education in the U.S. to enhance their knowledge and broaden their global outlook.
Another highlight of Anjangsana was the discussion on professional opportunities, including internships at the U.S. Consulate General. Consulate representatives explained how internships can equip students with valuable skills in diplomacy, cross-cultural communication, and project management.
