Celebrating Talent and Creativity: English Week Universitas Negeri Surabaya 2024

English Week is here at Universitas Negeri Surabaya! This event full of passion and creativity took place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Auditorium T2 and T8, Faculty of Language and Arts. This year, English Week presents more diverse and challenging competitions, including Storytelling, Poetry, Speech, Debate, and Essay. This annual event is a great platform for students to channel their talents in English and deepen their communication and critical thinking skills.

Since morning, participants from various faculties and majors have been eager to fill the event area. Each competition category allowed participants to showcase their talents before the judges and audience. Here is a glimpse of the excitement in each category:

-Storytelling: With strong expressions and intonations, storytelling participants brought listeners into mesmerizing stories. Each story was delivered with full appreciation, inviting the audience to enjoy a story that was both entertaining and full of moral messages.

- Poetry: The participants in this category showed immense talent in interpreting poetry. Their voices echoed in the room, bringing the audience to feel the emotion and meaning behind the words.

- Speech: This category showcased participants who had strong oratory skills, able to deliver evocative and inspiring messages. With relevant themes, they managed to convey inspiring ideas.

- Essay: On the other hand, the essay competition tested participants' ability to organize arguments and ideas through writing. The essays showcased deep insights and structured thinking.

One of the highlights of this year's English Week was the Debate Competition, which took place exclusively on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. This round is the final event for debaters who have passed the strict selection in the previous round. They debate each other with sharp logic and well-thought-out strategies, trying to convince the judges and the audience of their views. However, the official awarding has yet to take place and will be announced at the close of the event.

This year's English Week is not only a stage to compete, but also a moment to learn, interact, and expand the network of friends. With these exciting and inspiring activities, Universitas Negeri Surabaya hopes that students can continue to develop their English skills and be ready to face global challenges.
