Serving Up Friendship and Fun: EVC (English Volleyball Club) Hits the Mark with Students' Social and Sport's Needs

Again! After the existence of the English Football Club, we are surprised again with a new community that is not inferior to other communities within the scope of the English Literature Study Program. In a bid to provide a platform for students to excel in their favorite hobby, build lasting friendships, and cultivate high sportsmanship, The English Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Language and Science, Surabaya State University has launched the English Volleyball Club (EVC), a unique initiative that is revolutionizing the way students spend their free time.
Located at the heart of the university campus, the EVC, a community under Association of English Literature Student (AELS), has become a hotspot for students seeking to master their volleyball skills, expand their social network, and develop essential life skills. The club's objective is to create a welcoming environment where students can come together, share their passion for the sport, and learn from one another.
As
in one of the EVCs’ visions Strengthening the community bonds among English
literature students through positive and constructive sports activities,
the EVC has exceeded expectations in terms of its impact on students' social
and sporting lives. “In my Perspective, the EVC organization is an activity
that can have a positive impact, such as adding relationships and accommodating
the talent interests of AELS students who are interested in volleyball” says Kirey
Ag'lis ghaida, one of an English Literature students and member of EVC (English
Volleyball Club)
On the other hand, the EVC's focus on sportsmanship, teamwork, and friendship has also yielded the same impressive results with other communities that does not only affect in the achievements aspect but also in the student’s social life in good self-formation. "The club's emphasis on fair play, respect for opponents, and good sportsmanship has helped me develop a more positive attitude towards competition," said one of EVC members "Volleyball has taught me that winning is not everything; it's about having fun and enjoying the experience with your teammates."
The club's success can be attributed to its highly dedicated community members, who are passionate about volleyball and committed to helping each other in improving their skills, and of course by not discriminating between members who are already proficient and those who are beginner. " My opinion about this community is cool, it's also exciting because there are no requirements to join this community.," said Bella Yohanita Natalia, a member of EVC communities. " We don't have to be good at it to be able to join. For those who have never or do not have a basic, they are also welcomed in this community because other friends will teach them too."
In
addition to regular training sessions, EVC also participated in several
tournaments throughout the semester and even went to the victory event. This
event gives students the opportunity to bond over their shared love of
volleyball. The EVC's popularity is proved of its rapid growth since its
beginning. The community has an ever-growing number of enthusiasts with each
member recruitment each year, with plans to expand its reach in the coming
semester.
