FBS UNESA Welcomes Visiting Top Professor to Explore AI and Research Writing

Surabaya — The Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), is set to host an inspiring international program through its Visiting Top Professor initiative, taking place from April 13 to 17, 2026, at Auditorium T14, 4th Floor. Carrying the theme “Academic Mastery Program: From AI-Enhanced Learning to High-Impact Research Writing,” the event invites lecturers and students to learn, reflect, and grow together in today’s rapidly changing academic landscape.
At the heart of the program is Prof. Jessie Barrot, Ph.D., a Full Professor and Vice President for Research and Development at National University, Philippines. Known for his approachable teaching style and strong expertise in language education and research, Prof. Barrot brings not only knowledge, but also real-world insights into how technology—especially AI—is reshaping the way we teach, learn, and write.
Throughout the week, participants will join interactive sessions that connect ideas with practice. From exploring how generative AI can support teaching and assessment, to hands-on guidance in crafting strong research papers, each session is designed to be practical, relevant, and immediately useful. Special masterclasses are also tailored for lecturers, master’s students, and doctoral candidates, creating space for deeper discussion based on each group’s needs and experiences.
More than just a series of lectures, this program is about opening conversations. It encourages participants to think critically about technology, to use AI thoughtfully and ethically, and to see research writing not as a burden, but as a meaningful way to share ideas with the world. It is also part of UNESA’s broader commitment to building a collaborative and globally connected academic environment through initiatives like Diktisaintek Berdampak.
By the end of the program, participants are expected not only to gain new skills, but also to feel more confident—whether in integrating AI into their classrooms or in developing research that can reach international audiences. In this way, the Visiting Top Professor program becomes a shared journey: one that brings global perspectives closer to home while empowering the academic community at FBS UNESA to grow together.
